About ANE
About ANE
Our Background
ANE (Association of New Elderly Inc.) was established in September of 2008. Inspired by Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara, a physician who remained active well past 100, and his philosophy of “staying connected to society at any age”, a group of people in Australia started ANE to prevent isolation among Japanese seniors and to create a supportive community where they can live with confidence.
Our Philosophy
ANE follows Dr. Hinohara’s vision, viewing the later years not just as a time to be cared for, but as an important period to stay connected with others and participate in society. Even living in a foreign country, members are encouraged to reach out, learn from one another, and support each other. We value nurturing these warm connections within our community.
Main Activities
ANE offers a variety of activities that Japanese seniors can participate in safely and comfortably.
- Social gatherings and cultural programs
- Health and lifestyle information sessions
- Consultation and support services
- Intergenerational connections
- Volunteer opportunities
- Newsletter publication
We aim to create a community where each member can contribute what they can, in a way that suits them.
